Our Philosophy

Yoga is a path to self-discovery. Teachers at Studio Eight Yoga are knowledgeable and focus on the traditional methods of learning, offering guidance through verbal communication and hands-on adjustments. Adjustments are made with attention on the individual student and are designed to be safe and effective.

Our intention is to inspire students to find the strength they already have inside of them and to learn how to harness it through breath and body awareness.

"Ashtanga yoga is 99 percent practice, one percent theory."

                                               -Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois

Studio Eight Yoga is part of the living tradition of yoga. Our name refers to the eight limbs of Ashtanga, the eight-fold path for living a life of health, self-discipline, meaning, ethics, and spirituality.

The Eight Limbs:

yama – ethics/morals
niyama – self-observation
asana – posture
pranayama – breath control
pratyahara – sense control
dharana – concentration
dhyana – meditation
samadhi – contemplation
